To cancel your transfer, tap Cancel transfer on the 'Transaction details' screen in your GPay account.
If you’re unable to cancel your transfer from your account, please contact us. We’ll check if cancellation is still possible. However, if the money has already been paid to the recipient, we won’t be able to cancel it.
What should I do if I sent money to the wrong person?
Please contact us as soon as you can if you sent money to the wrong recipient.
If your transfer's been paid and we can't cancel it, we’ll speak to the receiving bank and ask them to return the money. This is called a recall request.
How do recall requests work?
We rely on the recipient's bank when we make a recall request.
We can't guarantee that the payment will be returned as they need the recipient's permission to give us a direct debit authorisation. Only if we get this can we reclaim your money.
- If you know the recipient, you might want to contact them and ask them to return the money to you, but only if you feel safe doing so.
We can't tell you how long a recall might take as we're reliant on the bank. They can take a long time. We'll keep you updated regularly so that you know how your request is progressing. |
